Agreed on all points. I dunno if he’s high while he writes, but I’m sure some of his inspiration has come from moments of “inebriation” if you wanna call it that. I don’t find that to be a negative. He’s an artists and every artist needs a medium. And clearly, the use of drugs has not hindered his talents or caused him to be in tabloids or another “lohan” for that matter. So fuck it. Bottom line; the man is good at what he does whether he be high or straight while he’s doin it.
It’s kind of obvious if you look at how he speaks before the song that he was high during the performance. still, that doesn’t take anything away from how amazing it was. and I agree with you. some people need drugs to get to that point where they’re that good. Jimi was an amazing guitarist sober or not, but I’ll bet you that some of his most famous riffs were written while he was high. same goes for any musician who uses; it becomes a part of their process. I doubt it’s like that for DM though

Seriously doubt DM’s an “ex junkie.” I’ll admit his manorisms are a bit out there but more than likely he’s smoked a couple jays before the show. As if thats unheard of. The whole argument about not being able to play that stuff geeked up isn’t valid. Jimi Hendrix played and played out of his fucking mind and made it look unreal. But I’m sure DM can afford some really good weed and probably enjoys playing high. Thats it. Songs great and I love the scat at the end. Awesome!
This all has nothing to do with Dave being an ex-junkie. Who knows, maybe he is, but this kind of thought and craftsmanship does not flow from the hands of geeked-out junkies. Enough said..

negative man. i wont speak for dave and say he’s never tried heroine before, but he definatly is not a former junky. more like he had a few joints before the show. and even more likely its just his personality. do you not know any1 that just asks crazy for the heck of it? its just his since of humor. overstreetr2 made a good point. you could play like this high, but not drunk. watch the vid when dave talks about the mics under their shirts. tim is obviously geeking out.

For god’s sake people, it’s soo far from alchohol it’s not even funny. I gurantee hes not drunk. Just watch his mannerisms, ex/heroin junky would be my guess. It’s the same whimsical type of movement you see in Johnny Depp(post Fear and loathing and his time with H.S.T.) It just doesn’t ever really go away, kind of becomes you.
Well he is a drug addict, like most of us. It tends to stay with you even years after the dabbling. If this is the first time you’ve noticed Dave acting peculier than you are not very observant. It’s really nothing new, it’s who he is, part of his soul.
