I did a quickie search based on the calls on the QSL cards on the wall. W6DTA really does exist. Or did. He’s now a silent key. I imagine the art director of the old Andy Hardy movie solicited real QSL cards, although both the calls of the actors aren’t real. The VE3 call exists, but it’s not Basil. The Canadian sounds like a British ex-pat.

I bet you they did think that yo could just go in buy a radio in turn it on right out of the box back then just think now with ham radio you can make contacts all over depending on what you use it would sure be fun to build one of them old radios
